Hid question on 2012 coupe
if the G already came with existing fogs, then using canbus style should be okay. Canbus is cheaper but when it comes to reliability and quality, i'd be safer running the relay harness because it does regulate the voltage being sent out.
I have a 2012 also, it's an xS coupe. I changed my HIDS TO 6000K and I changed the daytime lights to the same color LEDs and my car came with the fogs. I changed the fogs which are Halogen to blue colored halogen bulbs that mimic zenons perfectly! For a fraction of the cost of zenons. I paid a few $ for a pair of bulbs.and no problems in 2 years.
Use CREE LED lights! I had a lot of issues with aftermarket HID kits because of the auto on/off system. I just switched to these over the weekend and like them MUCH more than the HID kits I ran in the past:
No relays required. It's a bit of a tight fit on the passenger side (because of the washer fluid reservoir), I had to pop my bumper off on that side to get the bulb in, but it went back on fine. Color matched the factory headlights really well and light output is great. I can't speak to the reliability yet, but they have a 5 year warranty and I would expect them to be much more reliable than the aftermarket HID kits. I put them in the IPL/Aero bumper fogs.
