I've got water under my driver's side carpet. I poured a cup of water into the driver's side sunroof drain and a bunch of water poured out from under my car. The path it took got the brake fluid reservoir compartment a little wet, so I assume the drain is working OK.

Is there something else I can now check? The water doesn't "APPEAR" to be coming from the center of the dash as none of the carpet over there is wet. The indications are that it's coming from the left side of the passenger area...possibly near the fuse box. The carpet immediately under the steering column where it meets the firewall is also dry, but the padding a few inches below the steering column (under the carpet) is wet. I'm assuming to soaked it's way up.

Where would the AC drain be? Driver side or passenger? Also, I discovered this over the weekend and dried it up really good. The wetness has returned, but I can't say it's rained enough to do this since I dried it. So I'm really stumped as to what may be causing this. Perhaps I didn't get out as much water as I thought...and although the carpet dried...there was still water on the floorboard which got sloshed around while driving...

EDIT:

Some back story...I had been noticing a smell for a couple of weeks and sometimes there was a little condensation on my windows. I finally noticed wet appearing carpet and that's when I started the drying process this past weekend. There was a day in the past month that I had left my windows cracked and it rained. I do vaguely recall having to dry off part of the seats and also the door side arm rests. So I assumed that this was a ONE-TIME event caused by leaving the windows open. If it's recurring...then I must find out what's going on. If it was a one-time event, then I need to figure out how to make sure all the water is gone.

Second EDIT:

From some other videos and sources, I think I can simultaneously have water drain under the car and also in the car. So I can't rule out the sunroof drain 100% yet.

G37Xtreme- I am thinking the gasket on the fitting that goes through your firewall has deteriorated allowing water not only out through the firewall but back into the car, behind the dash. I would bet money if you coupled the drain tube like I did it would take care of your problem.

Just had my driver's side water leak fixed. The bolt that connects my RJM clutch pedal to the firewall was over tightnened, causing the seal to get messed up. Cost $175 to fix it. Just a heads up for those of you with the RJM cluctch pedal installed.

$175 to fix it yourself or have someone/dealership do it?

What about in a g37 convertible?

Having same issue with water in driver floorboard. I wouldnt think it being a convertible it would have the sunroof type drain plugs but maybe it has some? Anyone else with a convertible having the same issue?

Especially when I'm not using the car as much.

Apparently, the gasket deteriorates over time and the water then drains down the kick panel and under your carpet. Unfortunately, you don't notice it until it has been leaking for quite a while. When I pulled her car apart there must have been 2" of water on the floor board. By the little bit of research I did, the fix is to pull the dash and silicone the coupler to the firewall. I wasn't going to pull the dash so I crammed my fingers behind there and tried silicone-ing it....twice. No help. Then I started to worry if I did get it to seal that it would eventually leak again. So, I fixed it another way.
I had already started sucking the water out...

Here is the sunroof drain along with a piece of copper tube I used for a coupler.

I slid a piece of rubber hose over and added zip ties so I didn't slide off.

I then routed it behind the dash, under the brake pedal (I had to unbolt it - not shown) and through the hole in the firewall.

Here is where it comes out in the engine compartment.

Maybe not the "proper" thing to do but it cost me nothing and I will never worry about it leaking again. I did remove the driver's seat and some trim allowing me to lift the carpet up. I sucked out all the water and allowed it to dry in my garage for a couple of days with a fan on it.

Hey did that permanently fix the situation for you? Has it ever happened again?

Fixed once and for all.

So today I re-routed both driver and passenger side drains. I tried the YouTube straw extension on both driver and passenger sides. Worked for about a year. Then leaks returned. So fed up decided to reroute. It’s actually easy. Passenger side splices into AC drain tube. Drivers side, drilled through firewall near dead pedal, elbow joint and out a pre drilled opening in floor board. Easy actually.
