Installed LEDs, now headlights are always on full unless "off"

Hi guys,
I'm new here, just bought a brand new 2013 G37x 3 months ago. I couldn't find anyone else having my problem, so here it goes.

I bought LED switchback turn signals for the front, LED sidemarkers (replacing the halogen ones), LED foglights, and some Morimoto XB35 D2S 6K HID bulbs. I got someone from a local shop to install these, because how can he screw up changing some bulbs, right?

Wrong. The Morimotos wouldn't light up properly, so I had to change them back to the original bulbs afterwards at a different shop. The switchback resistor kit (to fix hyperblinking) wasn't enough, so he doubled up on the resistors per light, since I had 2 resistor kits.

Anyways, after all of this I've noticed that my lights only have 2 modes. Off, and full (not talking about highbeams). The middle setting (not sure what it's called, DRLs? No HID should be on) doesn't work. If I choose the middle setting, it just acts like full. If I put the lights on auto, it goes to full. The fog lights behave, though.

Also, if the car is off, then it goes through all the settings properly. Middle setting doesn't turn on the HIDs. But if I turn on the car, the HIDs will turn on too.

Did this guy screw something up? Could it have something to do with the extra load from doubling up on resistors? I know he didn't do a good job, didn't even close the lining on the wheel wells properly and lost a couple of the tabs too. Regret going to him.

Basically, did he mess up the wiring? And hopefully, is this fixable if I go to another shop or does it have to do with the LEDs themselves?

Great question. I don't know, though. I'm inclined to believe that he really did mess up the wiring, since one resistor kit should have been enough. He should only have spliced resistors into the circuit for the blinkers.

1. With the Switchbacks, sometimes you do have to install two sets of load resistors on each side. I'm not aware of this being necessary on the G cars.

2. If you have HIDs for your DRLs, they won't be able to function at the half-power DRL setting. DRLs emit a pulsing signal *that's how the bulbs are half power*, HID's require a steady signal otherwise they won't work properly.

If your highbeams are your DRLs, they will only work on full power and you'll want to install an HID relay.

Feel free to email us if you need more help with lighting. Even if you didn't buy from us, I'm still here to help
