touch-up paint question.............

Well, it took me eight months to get my first highway chip on the front bumper. I was going to go to the dealer to get some factory touch-up paint, when I remembered that several years ago, when I had an '06 G35 coupe in Liquid Platinum, I did exactly that and the color wasn't even close.

I can't remember what I finally did, but has anyone else had this problem of non-matching factory touch-up paint? I wonder if anyone's had better luck with an aftermarket vendor.......

Thanks in advance.

I find metallic colors to be hard to match with the paint pen, the flake never seems to distribute right when I'm trying to fill in a scratch. I got a dealer OEM pen and the dr color chip kit. They seem to be the same color from what I've been able to tell.

might seems to work right when I shake thoroughly. I wipe the area with rubbing alcohol to clean off any residual polish or wax, apply the touch up paint, wet sand the area, then buff and it blends fairly closely. I have graphite shadow (KAD) btw.
