HID Head Lights

So i got some HID head lights but they are having that flickering issue on start up. I read a bunch of threads but all of them don't have a answer except that it is cheap eBay bulb issues.

I don't think thats the issue though, i initially got 8K 35W bulbs from the same company and they worked fine. I got 6K 35W ones and now its having this issue. Its both sides, when i turn them on, both would flicker on and off then after few times doing so it would stay on. Any one found a solution for this?

So far, all things point to a ballast issue. They work fine on OEM bulbs, but tend to be iffy with aftermarket. It's really hit or miss. Some guys have no problems with cheaper after markets, and others find the only way to solve their issue is to purchase the high end name brand bulbs.

I was one of the lucky ones, I got $12 bulbs from ebay and they flickered/didn't turn on reliably at first, but after about a week of that, they turn on instantly every time. They match the diode dynamics HID bulb kit I installed.

My bulbs shipped from US though, origins are undoubtedly still china.

To the OP... I had the Same issue though mine were from a O-Nex Shop in LA they did tje install with a $50 set of 6k came on... drove 30 min off... tried another set same issue .... 08/10 used a different ballast and igniter .... 11/13 used a better ballast and I found this in the Search function... the 11/13 G's ballast is touchy... So I ended up kicking my own **** for trying cheap bulbs even at $50 a pair and bought 2 Sets of Phillips Euro5k bulbs from Germany... pluged them in and flickered once and bam on! Flickering is the lights igniting the Salts still... these are brite white but phillips says only 750-1000 hours of usage per bulb... I like these a lot but thats not many hours so I bought 2sets.... they are not cheap... $140 per set... but compaired to 6k lights these are whiter and farther and a small hint of blue...

To save a Buck screwing up your balast or igniter ... nah dont take that route... a new ballast or igniter from the dealership is $260... each

So ask yourself is it really worth it????

Not for me... again a hard lessoned learned...

Good luck
