A Few Lighting Mods (Lotsa Pics)

I replaced the regular bulbs on my G with white LED bulbs. I replace the license plate light, trunk light, map lights, and door panel lights. I used a combination of 5 LED and 12 LED bulbs I purchased from www.superbrightleds.com

Here are some before and after pics:

License plate light BEFORE

License plate light AFTER (5 LED bulb)

Door panel light BEFORE

Door panel light AFTER (5 LED bulb)

Map light/Interior BEFORE

Map light/Interior AFTER (12 LED bulb)

Trunk light BEFORE

Trunk light AFTER (12 LED bulb)

Installation for all these bulbs was about 15-20 minutes, and that's taking my time.

The LED bulbs are way brighter than the regular bulbs that came with the car. My interior gets especially bright now, just the way I like it

The LED bulbs emit a pure white light (not blue), and really adds a nice touch to the car. They look sweet!

My next lighting mod will be the parking light bulb in the headlight housing

Happy motoring!

How did you get a 12 led bulb to fit in the trunk? Did you have to leave the bubble dome cover off? My 12 LED bulb from superbright was too tall.

Otherwise, my car looks just like yours... I have my illuminated kick panels, can't wait to install. Fantastic look isn't it? The White LEDs reflect off of the aluminum trim, giving it an interesting look. I love it.

I'd like to do the door lights and the trunk light on mine. Any chance of a DIY post?

Everything just pops out. Get a variety of small and large LEDs from superbrightleds and go to town. There are other posts here too that detail this quick but dramatic mod. Pretty cheap too.

Also, the map lights emit a soft glow even when they are not explicitly turned on. It adds to the ambiance, but I think it is "burned out bulb detection".

The 12 LED bulb fits, but I just can't close the plastic bubble dome cover. I really don't care though because I never get to see it

Go to this page:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...gi?product=CAR

Look for these bulbs:

WLED 5-LED Wide Angle LED bulb (door panel & license plate lights). Get (4) of these in COOL WHITE color

921-x12 Wedge Base LED bulb (trunk & map lights). Get (3) of these in WHITE color

You'll need these (7) bulbs total if you wanna do the exact same mod I did.

Hope this helps.

I tried the 5 LED bulb but I found that it wasn't bright enough for me. The 12's really light up the interior

great stuff! My only beef is from reading other similar threads, that these LED's dont appear to last more than a few months?? (really dissappointing considering lifespan is usually a beneft of LED's...)
I think i might end up just sticking with traditional (superwhite) incandescent bulbs...

Only time will tell. I'll let you guys know how long they last.
