Applying touch up paint?

I have a couple of rock chips on my door i was wondering if anybody has any experience with using touch up paint? i know most people would just clean and dabb but then layers wont match. Would the process be primer then dabb? if i was to take it to a dealer how much would it cost?

If you're going to do it yourself then make sure you get the touch up paint from the dealership and make sure you give them your VIN so they can give you the right color. The touch up pen they give you has two applicators, one is a brush kind of like what is used for nail polish and the other is a pen. I used the brush on one of my rock chips and it created a bubble effect, on another rock chip I used the pen applicator and it came out a lot better. I'm pretty sure the primer is mixed in with the paint so there isn't a two step application, but I would double check just to make sure. Also make sure you apply very small amounts at a time, its easier to add more than it is to take off once its dry.

im gonna test my fate on dr color chip. Mostly good reviews. I tried regular touch up paint and had cars touched up by previous owners with normal touch up paint and looked worse than just leaving it alone
