Removing "Infiniti" letters from trunk
Removing "Infiniti" letters from trunk
What's the best way to do this? Someone at work said I just scrape it off with dental floss or something. Is that all it takes? Is there a residue left behind?
Still debating if I want to remove the "G37x" or not.
Also, how easy is it to put the letters back on should I need to for any reason?
(should I make a new thread asking the best products/methods to wash the car? So far I've only done a sprayer washer that is down the street)

You can also use wd40.
With the dental floss/fishing line.
Has some nasty glue on driver side door left from oem plastic door edge cover.
Wd40 worked like a charm.
Letters aren't really glued compared to the Infiniti emblem.
Just wash any left over residue.

Pick up some 3M adhesive remover from any autozone and spray it behind the letters...comes in a black aerosol can. The double sided tape will disintegrate and the letters will effortlessly come off. Spray some extra on the left over residue and simply wipe it off. I've done it that way for my last 4 cars and never had a problem. You don't need to heat them up or anything like that.

I'm planning on doing this in a month or so, as soon as the snow disappears.
I'd recommend you to use some measuring tape along the trunk, side to side, and take some pictures, that way when you're selling the car down the road, you can put them back on and keep the resale value where it should be.

Dont use dental floss as that will continue to rip on you. Use fishing line. leftover can be removed with goo gone.
however, you will be able to see where the emblem and letters were for about a month or so and will dissapear with a few washes. I however then polished that area right after with a DA and it looks like there was nothing ever there. thought i would share.

oh and another thing. Please dont go down the street and use the spray and brush wash. let me tell you why. when you start washing you car with that brush that everyone uses, whats the last thing that you do with it? clean and brush your wheels and the under area of your car. well, guess what the last person who washed their car did as well the same thing!!! now muliply that by the number of cars that have been washed with that brush. this is the worst wash you can do. swirls, swirls, swirls.
people dont understand how to keep a car almost swirlfree. you need to use a two bucket system. one with clean water the other with whichever car shampoo/soap you want to use. wash a panel and then rinse your microfiber mitt/sponge (not one from autozone/pepboys). do another panel and rinse again till you finish every panel. you will notice the difference if you get a microfiber mitt from pepboys/autozone in comparison to having a microfiber mitt from lets say chemical guys side by side (a lot bigger and thicker).
dry with a large microfiber towel to remove the large water drops, then come back with a smaller microfiber towel and your favorite detail spray (V7 from chemical guys for me) and completely dry each panel. you will be amazed with the results.
and dont use detail spray as your washing option, as that too will swirl your car. if you use a waterless system, it should have clay in it so that it picks up the particals. you will see the clay i speak of if you let the container sit for a bit as it will move to the bottom.
