Re-cover of the steering wheel
Re-cover of the steering wheel
I know I saw this done by at least one person on this board...but cannot find the post.
I am looking into re-covering my steering wheel. Well - not ME doing it - Dallas Custom Steering wheels does a nice job. Add some padding (1/16"), can go perforated or solid leather or combo, and various type (and colors) of stitching. Overall the job looks like it would cost @$400. I really like the look - and the feel has to be better. The leather on the factory wheel is just .... eh.... to me. (I know....that is a real technical description). Maybe because it isn't padded much....but whatever.
The question is: how do you remove the steering wheel? I assume I only have to remove the 'rim' and not the hub/switch portion at all. Thoughts? How many have done this?
It would end up looking a lot like this: Black recovered wheel
Let me know - thanks

Easy to do... I was afraid of doing it too, but only took me about an hour and yes Dallas steering wheels are worth every penny IMO... I did perforated leather with Alcantara suede on the sides and blue stitching
