180custom/aftermarket LED's...are they worth it?

Hey all,

I dont mean to sound misleading in the title, or that I'm knocking 180 custom for any reason, because the real reason for this thread is in fact the opposite. I absolutely love the work they do and am considering getting my headlights done. But my question is,are LED's worth it? Are they long lasting?? i dont want to run into the issue down the road of having great custom headlights, but then worry about replacement bulbs/repair if it ever came down to it. Has anyone had headlights done from them 2+ years ago that have been used as DD and still look/operate great? Because its a toss up between having my lights done by either 180 or RaulGcustom (who doesnt do LED's). so if i dont go the LED route i may just have Raul convert them, because that black chrome is too sexy.

Any info/pics would be great, thanks!

I can vouch for 180 custom, as they have done headlight mods on all my cars. Great lasting LED's.

Isnt the longevity of LEDs generally longer than a vehicles life?

I can't speak for 180 custom but Umnitza does a nice job with LEDs! I got my LED angel halo lights done by them and haven't really run into any problems. I have had them on since November 20, 2011. You should look into it. And ya I have seen a TON of pictures on the black chrome done by Raul g custom and yes! It does look sexy! So that always has to be an option.

What about reliability with these headlight modifications? It's one thing to change a bulb but another to change a little LED that went out, wouldn't this involve sending the headlight back to whoever did it for you so they can open it up again, replace, close it back up. Sounds like a serious hassle to me.

Guys if you search you can find some threads on this forum form some time back about 180 Customs headlight LEDs and their quality, longevity, and service.

I am always weary about modifications like this. It isn't a matter of reliability of the materials, but the quality of the craftsmanship.

Well, I can't say anything about Raul but I've seen his work and it's incredible. What I can say is that 180 Customs produces awesome work as well. I had my Iron Man lights done by them and they look amazing. No issues whatsoever. LED's typically have a pretty long lifespan.

Also, if you plan on doing your headlights, PLEASE make sure you do TSX-R lens at the same time or dish out an extra 200 to reopen the lights at a later time(which I did). Luckily for me, I live 5 minutes from 180 so I don't have much issues getting any work done.

I would suggest, if you live close to NYC, 180 would be the way to go.
