HID Control Modules?

I just purchased my 2008 Infinti G37 Coupe a month ago. Both of my brights went out the other day so I took it to a mechanic(warranty is expired). He says that both HID control modules are bad and that both headlight assemblies need to be replaced as well. A total of $2600! Any help would be appreciated.

Both of your BRIGHTS? Or did you mean main headlight beams? Does everything else works? No, you shouldn't have to get new headlights and whoever is telling you that doesn't seem like he know's how to troubleshoot issues like this.

#1: Check headlight bulbs
#2: Check fuse
#3: Check ballast

Where are you located?

Just like weiboy said, check your bulbs, have a look in the DIY section on how to replace the head light bulbs. The fuse box for the lights is located behind the battery and the ballasts are located underneath the actual headlight assembly(you will have to take the bumper off and remove the headlights them self. If you do some research you can find identical ballasts for less than $100. I had significant moisture buildup and that caused one of the ballast to short out. I simply searched the web for new and used ballasts and found a used ballast off of a 350z for $30 and swapped it all out.
