Headlights on - fog lights off

I've been searching for about an hour and couldn't find an answer to this question.

Is there a way I can have the dimmer fog lights (off) while my headlights are on. I have an 08 coupe, and whenever the headlights are on, dimmer fog lights are on. I know there are countless threads for how to have just the fog lights on without the headlights, but I'm trying to do the opposite.

Thanks in advance!

Default behaviour of the fog lights is OFF when the headlights are on, unless you have the fog light switched to the ON position.

Did you have your lights rewired for something else (like DRL)?

I guess I meant "the parking lights." The orange-yellow light where the fogs are as well. Sorry.

Your amber lights (parking lights) are on with your headlights? Im not sure mine does that. Maybe the little city light stays on. My ambers are just turn signals/hazards. I could be wrong but now I am going to look lol.

Pulling the bulbs is your only option I'm thinking.

08 does have a fog light switch. Check on your light switch. All cars have one. Now the positions of the fog lights are different for the current models.

08 does agave a fog light switch separate form the headlights. It's the inner switch on the stalk. But what you are talking about is the parking lights, also referred to as city lights or running lights.

No, there isn't any simple way to have headlights on without parking lights. They're supposed to be on when the headlights are used because they also illuminate required side marker lights. They also provide light on the ground near your car in front ans slightly on the sides. For you to accomplish this would require cutting into the wiring harness and rewiring it. I wouldn't recommend this.

1) You can screw it up.
2) If you screw it up you are screwed because electrical component warranty is voided because you cut into the wires.
3) It might very well be expensive to fix if you screw it up.
4) Why do you want to do this anyway?

thanks for all the responses!

there is a inner switch to turn on the fogs which i'm sure most of you have noticed now.

I just always thought the headlights looked good without those city/parking lights on alongside them. even when people take the time to install an HID kit in their fogs, it just looks like a giant blob of white light. this is a long shot, but when i see acuras, their headlights look like a small white spot that shines very nicely.

I used to own a 08 g35x sedan and I would always keep the headlights on without the fogs. I believe this was possible with the sedans. When I see other people who have the IPL bumpers with the fogs on the bottom, their headlights look much cleaner imo with just the white light.

Nevertheless, if this change would cause me to mess something up, I would easily choose not to do it. I just wanted to see if it was at all possible. On a side note, I do see many cars that do not have any sort of amber markings. All of my friend's audi's seem to be just white lights in the front.

I would just remove the bulb and be done with it.

Man you are really jumping around. You are talking about the city lights, fog lights, AND amber lights LOL. Its a little hard to keep up. BUT, you can always change the bulb to another color n the city lights. Perhaps use an LED bulb and that will match the HID's

go with leds if you don't like the look. if you want them completely off, you're going to have to remove them.

Actually, now that I think about it, I saw an OB G37 coupe (same color as mine) riding on the opposite side of the highway and I noticed how cool the profile looked. I think he took his halogen-looking city light bulbs out. It gave the impression of a wider stance because you had nothing between the HID lights.

I may look into this myself. I just don't want it to trip an error on the dash.

I also wish the turn signals could be the parking lights as opposed to the amber side lamps. That would be HOT!
