I know it’s not a popular subject around here, but front amber side lights (and red for the rear) are a federal requirement and it’s illegal not to have them. Yes, they may be of dubious value as a safety device but there may come a time when they’ll prevent a night accident.

LOL. I'm sorry for talking about so many different things. I began getting confused during the whole conversation as well. Anyways, the amber lights are the ones that are all the way on the edges of our headlights; for the 08 coupes. I have no intention of removing these or changing these because of legal issues. I just wanted to note that the laws in Illinois were pretty vague regarding the amber lights. I've seen many newer audis that do not have amber lights, or perhaps I just haven't been on the look out for them. I digress.

On the other note, the fog lights are the ones that I can switch on and off with the inner wheel. I also have no intention of removing these because it has a beneficial aspect to it. Although I may replace them with HIDs.

Lastly, the real purpose of this thread was to speak about the city lights. The halogen lights that come on when you turn your headlights on. These can be turned on individually without the headlights, but not vice versa. And Wyldfyer, you have been spot on with what I was imagining. I just think it would like nicer with just the white lights. Most people have replaced the stock city light halogens with LEDs. In my opinion, when these are on, It just looks like a giant blob of white light shining through the headlight housing. I'm sure it looks nice when it is on by itself, but the city lights will always be on with the headlights; which would lead to the "Blobby" look. The wider stance and personal opinion are both reasons why I would do this.

Now the only problem is, I can't find my wheel locks to remove my tire, and I am actually 2 hours away from my closest infiniti dealer. I guess I can order them online, but from reading many threads, there seems to be people who have changed the lights with scrapes and cuts from the top. However, I didn't seem to be able to find a DIY for this way. And that is probably because taking the tires off is much easier. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I found this thread ...

https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-cou...g37-coupe.html

But I don't find myself qualified to remove the intakes and what not

Thanks for all your help!

Sorry to thread jack but OP mentioned in his first post that there is a way to only have fog lights on?? I have a '11 G37S and for the life of me can't figure out how to only turn on the fogs. Only way they turn on is if the xenons are on. I just thought it was not possible, can someone please clarify?

I haven't done so myself, but I'm sure there are threads that explain how to change up the wires to do this.

Good luck on finding specific instructions on how to do this though!

It isn't possible. OP is trying to figure out how to turn off the city lights that turn on whenever the headlamps are on.

I think I'm just going to take the bulbs out. Now I just need to figure out how to do this without screwing anything up.

That did cross my mind, but I immediately thought better than to recommend something like that haha.

Your best bet is to take the wheels and fender liner off, it isn't too much work once you get the front end up in the air and it makes it extremely easy to get to that bulb.

sadly, I seemed to have misplaced my wheel lock key. And the nearest Infiniti Dealer is about 2 hours away :/ And I tried to take the wheel liner off while I had the wheel turned, But I just felt like I was ripping something off, so I stopped.

Forgot that. You might as well just go at it from above and remove the air filter assembly per that link you posted above.

For the amber reflector thing, you can remove it from your headlight and slap a reflector with 3m tape on the side as pictured below:

Remove the air intake boxes, much easier than the fender liners.
I installed PIAA 3000K wedge bulbs as my city lights. (My first Mod!!)

I wish instructions would be more detailed then vague. I loosened the bolt that connects the intake to the frame but after that I don't know what clamps to remove, hose, etc..

That sounds like a bad idea and I don’t know why a G owner would bother. It may be better to just leave it alone.

Doesn't look bad at all. But I don't think I would go through the trouble to take the amber out.

On the other note, I just finished removing the city lights! Definitely looks cleaner in my opinion with just the white lights. I would say it's one of those changes that is not noticeable to the normal person, but to me It makes a huge difference.

And after doing this from the top by taking out the air filter boxes, It was definitely not as easy as remove a bolt and pull. The bottom is actually stuck together with something but with a little wiggle and pull it comes out. I wish someone would have said this earlier so I didn't feel like I was going to end up breaking something. Same goes with the hose and the actually city light. Nevertheless, I appreciate everyone's help and opinions!
