License Plate Lights

I am having trouble switching the license plate lights out with my led ones. I switched the rest of the lights in the car just fine, but when i got to these i cant seem to get them out. I was able to pop out the whole bracket that holds the lights, but there is a wire harness connected to them as well. I didnt want to unhook this because there would be no way i would be able to hook it back up. There is just no space for me to fit my hands in there. Is there some sort of easier way to go about doing this??

Each light has a little tab (~5/8" long) that should allow you to pull the whole lens assembly out. That metal bracket that holds the two lights doesn't need to be removed. If I recall, the tab is on the right. Just press it in and pull down on the lens, It should come out.

I did that, but then it has that wire harness attached to it. It is so tight that if i unhook it i wont be able to plug it back in.

Once you unclamp the light assembly, you should be able to pull it out just enough for you to replace the bulb. The wires should have some slack.

Has the rear of your car been repaired before? body wise?

Car has never been repaired or in any type of accident. There really isn't any slack. Its pretty tight...

Ohhhhh...OK I think I know what you mean now. Heh, sorry. The socket thats part of the lens assembly rotates 90 degrees and you can pull the bulb out. Hope that helps!

After you remove the lens socket(rectangle enclosure) you then twist the back and it comes out and you then pull the bulb out and swap it with led.
