aluminum pedal install on non-S?

hey guys

i have an AWD coupe. i have the opportunity to pick up some aluminum pedals from an S. does anyone know what would be involved with the install? has anyone done it before? i looked under at my pedals and it looks like it might be a little more complicated than i want to get into.....or it could just be a couple bolts lol

thanks

never done it, never looked at mine... but I'd start by looking at the S pedals and seeing if the aluminum face is bolted or secured to the pedal, or is it the whole pedal structure? If it's the whole thing, take a peek at what it's gonna take to get the old ones off, or ask the guy who has the S pedal how bad it was getting them off. If too in depth, then scratch the idea and get some aftermarket pedals that will go on your stockers.

...there was a thread recently about a company that does really nice aluminum pedals that a few guys had experience with. Said a few holes and a few bolts. they looked nicer then OEM and higher quality.

I checked the service manual real quick. I have an S with the aluminum pedals....before I saw the car in person I kinda just figured they were snap on covers or something, but in reality I think they are a whole different pedal setup.

The accelerator looks pretty simple....there is a bolt cover on the bottom that you pop off, remove the bolt and the whole pedal assembly (disconnecting the accelerator wiring harness first), then swap in the replacement.

The brake pedal I couldnt find in the service manual (not quickly anyway). Not sure if thats more or less complicated....if its just the flat part of the pedal bolted on then it should be easy, otherwise it might get complicated.

the plastic on the brake pedal can be folded off, it doesnt bolt on. the brake pedal is just one big lever connecting higher up. couldnt tell in the awkward position on my back if it was going to be a b!tch lol

Is there an answer to this yet? Simple bolt on or PITA?

Hey All,
dont know if this will help but here goes.have a 09 awd sedan and installed the sport pedals-had to buy accel+brake pedals from dealer.accel was $175,brake was $45.the accel pedal is the whole assembly-remove a cover on the floor, remove 2 bolts and install new.must also calibrate the zero position-procedure is in service manual-its easy.the brake pedal cover installs the same way the all rubber one does-just kinda slips over the metal pedal-gotta kinda stretch it on-its a little tricky.stock one pulls off easy.i also installed the sport dead pedal i got from a member parting out an s model.peel back the rug,the stock plastic piece is held on by a few push clips-remove them and install sport dead pedal.cant buy just the sport dead pedal from the dealer-have to buy the whole rug for like $800-yikes.i would guess all this on the coupe is the same.hope this shed some light on this.
