It was most likely done that way to prevent something from accidently getting caught in the windows if you are not within visible range when the ikey button is pressed.

I have a 2009 G37 vert and a 2010 G37x sedan (Europe versions) and on both of them, i can pull windows down and up from the remote.

If i keep the UNLOCK key on the remote pressed for more than 3 seconds, the windows will go down.
Then, if i keep the LOCK key pressed for more than 3 seconds, the windows will pull up.

It wasnt done because of a safety issue. The engineers building the car didnt think of this at the time.
The windows on my '08 have a pressure sensor and if there is something obstructing the window from going up it will automatically go down.

I can't think of any cars that will let you roll up the windows remotely. It probably was done that way becuase of safety, what if the pressure sensor fails? It can also still hurt a baby or young kid. I got my fingers stuck in my friend's Audi when he rolled up the window and even though it reversed it still pinched and would probably really hurt a kid.

Well... we dont have the XM radio and the remote garage door opener on the rearview mirror.

We also dont have the 7AT tranny lag

One more thing that's not available here is the XS option.
We can chose premium, S or X premium.
