BCM replacement question

I'm taking my G37 coupe in for BCM replacement as per TSB ITB010-10. They already replaced my battery and vent control valve. I have a 2008 Journey with premium package.

Things like resetting the seat memory, mirrors, comfort & convenience menu settings, key fob reinitialization, I don't really care about.

Will my phonebook entries and radio presets be deleted? Anyone know for sure?

I have disconnected the battery and don't loose the phone or presets ... all the other stuff though. Not sure about the BCM replacement and what they have to do there.

If anyone is interesed, the answer is NO.

The phonebook (in a non-nav) and radio presets reside in the audio head unit, so replacing the BCM doesn't affect those items.

The things that get reset to factory defaults are the settings in the comfort & convenience menu, seat/steering wheel/mirrors/keyfob/TPMS settings.

Got a quick question for people that have done the TSB. Have you all notice that after it was done things like how quickly ur windows roll up improved? Becausee right now I feel like my windows struggle and i'm thinking of going in and asking about the tsb. Thanks!

Hey T-Bone, can you confirm you still have your auto lights functionality and that the sensitivity option under the comfort& convenience menu is still there? Some one had posted that they lost both after the BCM update. TIA

Yeah, I still have auto lights functionality and sensitivity option under the comfort & convenience menu. All is good.

What probably happened with the guy that lost those things, IMO, is that the dealer installed the wrong BCM in his car. There are several different BCMs cooresponding to the different options available in our cars. Most likely, he got a BCM installed that was not configured with the premium package. The dealer is supposed to order the replacement BCM by VIN number so as to avoid this situation.

Tell them to check to make sure one of your seat motors isn't running constantly. I run a Nissan service dept and used to run an Infiniti one and I've seen that more than a couple of times... GL

A question for those with BCM replacement

Has anyone noticed "sluggish" acceleration response and reduced MPG after doing the BCM replacement?

I had the BCM replaced very closely with replacing my old OEM Potenza tires with new 255/275/19 oversized Hankook evo V12. The dealer replaced the EVAP vent control valve and reprogrammed the ECM a month earlier, so the ECM reset done at that time isn't the reason for the sluggish acceleration.

I read the following in the service manual:

POWER GENERATION VOLTAGE VARIABLE CONTROL SYSTEM

The power generation voltage variable control system enables fuel consumption to be decreased by reducing the engine load which is caused by the power generation of the alternator. The battery current sensor is installed to the battery cable at the negative terminal. The sensor measures the charging/discharging current of the battery. Based on the sensor signal, ECM judges whether or not the power generation voltage variable control is performed. When performing the power generation voltage variable control, ECM calculates the target power generation voltage based on the sensor signal. And ECM sends the calculated value as the power generation command value to IPDM E/R. For the details of the power generation voltage variable control, refer to CHG-8, "System Description".

I wonder if the updated programming has caused the BCM to send a signal to the ECM to require the alternator to charge more while driving? It seems plausible given the dead battery problem that led to the issue in the first place.

I am wondering if this is the cause or upgrading my tires is the culprit? Are my new Hankooks THAT sticky???
