Whoops - passenger side mirror cover flies off!

I normally hand wash when the weather is good but went through a touchless car wash today and during the air drying phase it blew off the painted passenger side mirror cover. Easy to get back on but I'm glad I noticed it fly off when it did. I have never had this happen on any car I've owned in the past. I'm hoping this doesn't come off again.

Mine flew off when someone clipped my mirror with their mirror while my car was parallel parked.

So it's generally easy to snap off then. Interesting.

YIKES!! That should not happen.
I would suggest you call your dealer & have them order you a replacement part and stop by for a swap once it arrives. One (or more) of the connection points or clips on the mirror cover may be bent or broken and you may not be a fortunate to find it next time.
Good luck

What? there's no way it could fly off if all the clips inside are intact. Check for damage.

Clips all look good. There are two hook clips on the top and two pin-like inserts on the bottom - everything in place. It is not too different that the way an interior trim piece might be held on - push and pull to remove.
