anyone have a link to the ambient lighting install? im just trying to gather a list of tools i need to complete the install. (wrenches, socket size, etc) thanks

 

I assume you are talking the factory one. Several have done it but I haven't seen any DIY. I did the illuminated sills and that was pretty easy, I can't imagine the lighting to be any harder.

You can create an ambient lightning mod from scratch without that kit which is BS IMO! Why? Because doing it this way you can change bulbs out at any time to any brightness any color!

1) You need 2 194 incandescent bulb housings - you can get these by buying those cheap $4-$10 dollar side marker lights for trailers or trucks etc.
2) With a little ingenuity you can strip the old housing (remove reflectors too) and plastics and solder on new wires. Those wires can be bought at radio shack for like $15 bucks.
3) Buy 2 single LED bulbs from V-LEDS: 2 HID WHITE INVERTED CONE WEDGE BASE LED 194 158 168 (this is a single led so its ambient)

5) DONT CUT YOUR WIRES!!!!! To tap in to the power do just that.. use Tap Connectors! About $3.00 bucks for a set of 8 good ones 3M at HomeDepot. First of course disconnect the harness back there and youll have more room to work.

Tap into the wire he suggests... so its only on when headlights are on..
