basic Q

There is obvious two types of forwarding facing lights in our car. The HID lights and the adjacent fog lamps. What I am confused about is the various terminology. What are city lights? I have heard this term thrown around. Which lights control hi/lo beam, the fogs or HIDs?

If I get LED that match the color of my HID (I guess that would be LED that is 4300k) will it produce more lumens as well or just different spectrum of light?

The city lights are the small bulbs just below the fog lights (there are three bulbs in each housing)

the HID lights are hi/low, the fog lights will turn off when you put the headlight hi-beams on

City lights are the small bulbs in the inner corner of our headlights that are on whenever the headlights are on.

The HID bulb duals as lo/hi beams. Fog is strictly fog.

What most people are calling city lights is what I've always referred to as parking lights. When you turn the headlight switch half way, they are on. Turning it all the way will have both your headlights and parking lights on. The fog lights are on when you turn the inner part of the stalk to the on position, but only when headlights (low beam) are on. Fog lights will not illuminate when you switch to high beam.

I don't believe I have seen 4300K LED, unless you want SMD which come in warm white (~4300K). But no, it does not automatically mean more lumens, you'd have to check the sepc.
