To paint the chrome or not?

OK, I admit it, my wife talked me into getting the sedan rather than the coupe because with two kids it was the practical thing to do. I can't really argue with that but the more I look at the coupe, I sometimes have second thoughts I didn't go for it. Don't get me wrong, I love my G37 (Obsidian) but I'm wondering if painting the chrome on the doors (and perhaps the grille) might not make it look a bit more "coupe-like" i.e. sporty. Anyone done that or thought about it? Have any pics?

Personally I wouldn't and I hate chrome, but on a sedan it belongs. Paint chips and chrome is far more durable. I am really happy with stillen's grille, being poly it won't chip and is far more durable then the chrome it replaced. Since I'm not aware of a poly option for the sedan I'd go with the factory black chrome grille rather then paint it. Black chrome emblem kit would be interesting to consider as well, almost give you an emblemless look on OB. Also look into getting your lights painted and formula silver Volks to go with the black chrome. That would help kill that mom's car feeling your suffering

I find cars that have been 'de-chromed' and painted at home to be less than successful. The paint chips after awhile and looks like crap. I'd suggest leaving the chrome as is and using your money for rims, suspension or other functional mods to make it more sporty.

I think the chrome makes it look better and more luxury especially for a black G.

If you're after a full on sport look then going away from all the flashy chrome is the way to go.

Wow,

That does look very nice! I think the chrome on the wheels is enough to set it off.
