Windshield Repair Cost

I searched the forums but couldn't find anything.

How much does it typically cost to repair a tiny crack/chip on a windshield? It's about the size of a small shirt button (looks like an asterisk *).

Thank god it's not for my car...*knock on wood*

+1 on that i just recently had something hit my windshield last week on the bottom passanger side but its about a quarter size crack and it could potentially spread all over the windshield. how much would a new windshield cost to replace?

I'm not positive, but i think most insurance companys you can get to cover this. Some one who knows more can chime in.

Insurance should cover. My dealer recommended replacing the whole windshield. My only fear is however them not doing the sealing right.

Figure $35-$50 depending on where you live.

Repair cost is really cheap anywhere,, sometimes even free.

btw, I replaced the windshield (course my insruance paid around $1,000) and a new one really sucks... They used the OEM windshield but it gets too hazy for some reasons. it is really noticeable and annoying as hell. The installer says it is not installation problem nor the windshield....

Call your insurance company.

I know USAA does unlimited rock chips repairs for free and one free windshield ever 2 years.

But if you are paying out of pocket, expect to pay around 50 dollars to repair a chip. Usually around 1000 to replace a windshield. (That can change alot depending on the car) If I remember right, a G35 OEM windshield runs about 750 dollars, plus 50 for new molding.

Also you can buy chip repair kits at Autozone. Usually about 10 dollars and they work decently well.

Your comprehensive insurance coverage will cover windshield replacement minus your deductible unless you have full glass coverage which some companies offer, or your state has universal coverage (i.e. MA). I have $100 deductible which is reasonable if I need to have my windshield replaced.

Well, my girlfriend has Mercury, and she said that they didn't offer the free windshield repair service, which is why we're looking to see how much it'll cost. I don't think it's worth paying her comprehensive deductible to fix something like this.

Thanks for the replies guys.
