Infiniti Accent Lighting Kit
No, you don't remove the center console. You have to remove the glove box and 2 panels under each side of the dash. Those are the main parts to remove. You also have to unclip a few wiring harnesses but that is easy. Read this whole thread and you should get a pretty good idea what you are up against. There are some tips such as the method of getting the driver's side lights in place that are useful, too.
I just did the install this week-end, and here are my impressions:
1. As already stated, quite easy to do. The glove box was easy, except for the damper chord - the instructions do not say how to remove it. It's in fact very easy - just push laterally untill the hinge separates.
2. You do not need to disconnect any of the connectors (as stated in the instruction - except the glove light when you plug in the harness). You can drill into the left lower panel inside the car.
3. The instructions are very precise where to drill - I do not see much point in that. Don't scramble to get exactly 70 mm from that line and 15 mm from the other - a ballpark distance will do just fine, so the LED does not come in contact with other parts inside. There is plenty of wiggle room for the harness.
4. Agree with previous posters - don't bother getting the vents out, goes perfectly in front of the console (next to the gas pedal). I used a flexible ruler and fished the harness from the passenger side.
Now the less good parts:
1. If you disconnect your battery, your windows will lose the one-touch up/down feature, and even worst, they will not go up fully when you close your door. Don't freak out (like I did), it's easy - the Infiniti tech said the windows need to re-learn the position. That means you have to turn fully down, then fully up and keep the button pressed for extra ~10 sec after each run. You may need to do it couple of times, and the windows are again working properly.
2. The worst part - I was quite disappointed with the effect. Really a very dim light. It's not bad, but not worth ~130$ + 1-2 hours fiddling. More like 20$ worst in my mind.
Just my 2 cents.

The battery disconnect / window recalibration is common knowledge, it's in the manual. It takes closer to an hour than two for the install. There are DYI's on the glove removal that make it very easy including the cable. I feel if it were brighter it would be distracting in the dark. Is it worth the money? Not really but what OEM accessory is? Is it worth the money for the effect and class it adds (IMHO), heck yes.
Infiniti kit is not as good as the BMW footwell lighting. I would not pay that amount for the OEM interior accent lighting. I am planning to go with LED lights. You can match any color light you want, too.
I'm going with a led light strip (2) with a red lens and do my own wiring, total cost about 30 bucks, got the lights from an rv supply store. I think the bmw lighting is red?? like cockpit lighting...
IMHO ....red will look rice. I know the OEM kit is overpriced but it does look nice. I never understand when people pay 40k for their cars and then quibble about $130 (or use cheap oil). It's like getting 2 Big Mac's and a diet coke, what's the point.
I wouldn't call them bright .... again, I think they are the perfect brightness. Bright enough to see and add a nice glow when it's dark but not too bright to be distracting. That would be my concern if they were to be too bright.
No DIM (LED's don't dim very well) and are tied into the glove box light which is tied to the headlights.
