I noticed this problem and walked into infiniti and told them. As soon as I described the problem, the service rep said "you have a 08-09 G37 huh?" I said yes, 2009 and asked how did he know since I have never been to this particular dealer. He said it was common and they get a lot of them in for this. They orderedd the part, called me and fixed it under warranty

 

If they don't fix it, take it to another dealership I was under warrantee and it was a long three hour fix but it was free and looks great

i actually had this bad on both sides (i live in south FL) and infiniti fixed this and gave me a brand new steering wheel for free

I just ask the service rep when I take my car for service if there are any common problems that needs to be fix since I was under warranty. I've had my cluster, muffler rattle issue, gas needle, battery, front brakes, and Nav replaced or fixed. (not all at once). It doesn't hurt to ask if you get your car serviced. My dealer is pretty upfront when I ask about common problems.
