Top Secret Shift ****?

I just purchased TS Shift **** and I tried to muscle by hand the OEM

What tools are needed and correct procedure to remove? I know it will be destroyed after reading an earlier post.

I read that post but still unclear why the rubber hose and two vise grips. Is the 2nd vise grip needed to prevent shifter rod from turning or breaking?
