Anyone else hate overlays?

I forgot how much of a pain in the *** overlays were to get on perfect. I'm happy with how I applied them on the G37, but it's not perfect and it bugs me! There's some gaps in some places, and I've tried bats and lamin-x and am still not happy. I'm also not happy with the gloss level of any overlays. lol. Maybe I'm just too picky, but I called up my body shop and they'll be professionally tinting the lights. Just thought I'd rant and see if anyone else feels the same.

Don't get me wrong BlueBat and Lamin-X make quality products! It just sucks not to have them look perfect.

How much are they charging you to do the lights, if you don't mind me asking? Oh and which shop is doing the work?

He's a family friend so he's not charging me anything, but I can ask him how much he'll charge to do it when I pass by there this week. He did all the work on my mazda and I won't trust any shop but his. He does amazing work, especially custom.

It's called Body Tech Custom Paint & Body in Doral

Yay... i'm that friend! Overlays are very hard to apply with all the curves on the front and rear lights. I would suggest having them painted.

I feel you on that jweb! Check this post I made a while back:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-coupe/181384-bats-overlays-installed-need-opinions.html

I had my overlays on, and I basically said what you just said. SO, i went the route you are going to go, got my headlights painted and tails tinted. Results are here:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/picture-share-g-coupe/182209-ip-with-a-few-exterior-mods.html

I'm in love with how things turned out! MUCH BETTER. I think you'll be happy with your choice.

Yea... I agree... but its a simple option and is cheap... Painting would be the best... just takes some time to fiugre out exactly what you want painted and teh scheme...

Alright guys I got my tail lights smoked by the shop today, and they came out sick!!! They look much better than the overlays and I'm really happy with the outcome! Whoever is interested in smoking their lights in the Miami area pm me, and I'll give you the number of the shop so he can give you a quote.
