Door Handle Metal
OK I my G37 is a week old and I noticed something that is rather irritating. The metal trim on the door pulls seems to attract scratches. Has anyone else noticed this tendency or is it unique to my car? It's rather annoying in that they (Infiniti) could have placed the Washi aluminum on the door handles to prevent this from happening.

Welcome! It's not metal, it's plastic hence the tendency to scratch easily. Yes, Infiniti did drop the ball on that part of the design because it looks downright cheap and scratches very easily with fingernaitls, rings, watches, etc. ther is nothing that can be done about it that I'm aware of. I'll probably just replace mine in a few months, it's about $30 or $40 for the parts if I remember correctly.

I have the same problem... must have scratched it the second day I got the car. My ring scratched it...made me so mad! Should have replaced it but I figure I will just scratch it again ... it now has over 5 scratches...so I guess when it becomes unbearable then I will replace it. (btw... I have a vibrant red G too!)

Isn't there some sort of scratch removal solution you can use?
Am confused whether it's plastic or metal though. Tried some polishing compound on it which did nothing, (although it didn't make it any worse).

Well I took my car back to the dealership and told them the scratches were there, and they are going to replace the piece for me. FYI-Their detail person said it couldn't be rubbed out. So that is a no go. Unfortunately, the dealership didn't have the part on hand so they had to order it; other people probably have been complaining and they can't keep the part on hand-I'm just guessing on that though! :-)

I just had my driver's side replaced Monday at the dealer. It might have been scratched when I bought the car, but I didn't notice it until a week after. It cost $40 for the part, no labor costs. Parts told me they're kept in stock all the time because they go thru alot of them.

There is another thread about this, where someone recommends using very light sand paper to make it look like the Washi finish. If you do a search, you should be able to find it.

scotch brite pad would work too
would take a bit of work to get it to look like the washi finish, but you could brush it up and down and just have the brushed aluminum look
