Greg,

I don't have before pictures of mine, but it looked similar to lif2b3 (post 369) and FM37 (post 375). It was a no questions asked kinda deal. Austin Infiniti (Austin, TX) said the leather should never bubble. Try contacting consumer affairs or see another dealer. Not sure if there is one in Bradenton or Venice to keep you from driving too far.

I'm now much more careful about how I sit down in the car. I make sure I don't squish the sides and I try not to move or pivot too much so I don't stretch the leather under my butt. But in all seriousness, they way you sit in the car should have no bearing on whether or not your claim is accepted. I think that's a little BS from the dealer saying you're sitting in your car wrong.

What my car looks like. These are non-sport seats and I've had the car for a little over a year now. I started noticing this probably around ~8k miles, but turned the other cheek. Any opinions?

The Infiniti would not replace the seat under any circumstances, final answer. I got so excited and emotional about the issue it made me sell the car...
I'll be posting some farewell thoughts and I have some unused parts to sell, keep watching.

Just checked my wife's 2008 535i and it looks much worse. She is skinny and obviously has no wallet. She's also been the only owner/driver except me. I think a little leather stretching in the sharpest point of your butt is to be expected.

Nothing yet but the seats aren't a year old, 9000 miles on the car. 2011 G37 Journey

2500 miles and nothing yet, average-sized butt (I think). No wallet in pocket when driving it.

Free seat replacement

I had this problem and brought it to the dealer where they took pictures and submitted it to the manufacturer. Within a week I had a new seat base replaced. If you are in the SF Bay Area, go to Beshoff Infiniti, they will take care of you.

The only problem with the 'free seat replacement' is the fact that they replace it with another infiniti seat... which is frankly a piece of garbage. It's a design flaw, and the flaw is that they used cheap materials. Mine had a bubble at 800 miles. I'm sure I could get it replaced but what's the point when they are going to just replace it with another bad seat that will look the same in 800 miles? The only way I'd be satisfied is if they paid for me to take the seat bottom to an upholstery shop and have them redo the seat bottom with higher quality foam/leather.

^^agreed that's why I never bothered with mines. Usually it's worst in the winter time. During the summer looks fine.
