If can remove it, then I can just put the overlay only around that piece and that would look really smooth

I'd get an overlay for the antenna. I'm sure BAT can get this to you for free in an envelope.

If you mean towards the back, the installer had to cut to make it out to make it flat and even. He said that if he tucked it in, it would increase the chance of peeling off
I wouldn't paint it. If/when you remove the overlay, you'll have a white roof with a black antenna (i.e. the exact opposite). Just get another overlay piece for it.
I agree, kinda make me wish that the antenna piece on the G37 was like the 03-07 G35s...all the antennas were colored black...but then again colored match antennas FTW

With huper optik, I believe that it reflects the most heat out of all the tints. Also huper optik is design to be light. Even 30% is not too dark. I went with 40% because I felt it looked more "luxury"

A buddy of mine has a small piece of black overlay, I will see if he will let me use that for the antenna.
Does Jim own a shop? Maybe I will stop by his place
