WTF? eh!? how?
WTF? eh!? how?
alright.. so i go to the club this saturday and i get out of the car to valet my car, the guy gives me a ticket hops in my car and leaves. Few hours later i come back out to give valet my ticket.. reach inside my pocket and sure as hell i still had my fob. I was telling the valet guy that they dont have my keys and that i still had them, he asked how they drove off and i told him it was a push button, etc.. I started freaking out because i didnt' know if this car stops after a certain distance away from the fob or stops after a certain time? It coulda been in the middle of the road, and by now definetly towed away. So anyways he told me to follow him to the valet lot, we ran probably a tenth of a mile and when i got there, my car was safe and sound
got it in and drove off.. but it made me wonder, wTf? this car can easily be stolen, how far can it drive off without the fob? is it timed shut off? where do i put the valet key that i was supposed to give to him?
)) Thanks

I'm kinda wondering that myself.. I know once the car is started and you walk off with the keys, its starts to beep but only for a second. I've actually left my car running twice now while going to Walgreens/Publix and not realizing my car is still on since I have my keys with me. Longest I've been in ~15 minutes car was still running. I really doubt the car will shut off if the key is not with you ever.

Example:
If you and your significant other drove somewhere and then the driver with the key gets dropped off (engine still running) but doesn't leave the key with the car; it would be a safety issue to have the car turn off later any other way than to push the on/off button. Think about that, it's pretty simple, there's nothing to wonder about.

It makes since that the car should run without the keyfob being in the car. You wouldn't want the car to turn off while someone else was driving it because you would be responsible for the accident that might happen afterwords. Also think about this, what happens when the key fob battery dies while it is in your pocket? I don't know about you but I don't put my key in the keyfob hole by the steering wheel. Remember to turn off you car when you leave it and there won't be a problem.
