Doc...there's only one bolt...it's the one that looks like it connects to the side of the car under the hood

the whole intake box pops out once that bolt is undone....just need to use a lil force to pull that intake box out

really? i don't think so. most gm's use 9006 or h4's. please show me where you found this piece of info. that states most gm's use h1's.

edit: please clarify which h1 you are speaking of. there is no such thing as an incandescent h1 hid bulb.. the h1 hids are a completely different bulb and require ballasts.
the bulb needed to replace the fogs for the g's are never used as headlamp bulbs.

 

That's my point. Yet, on Sylvania's web site and on the SilveStar box it says "headlight bulb" for their H1 bulb.

 

I stopped checking after learning the Hummer H2, H3 and the Tahoe use a H1 headlight bulb.

yes, h1 hid. not the h1 incandescent bulb that fits the fogs.

 

Okay. Help me out here. Someone posted there was a sale/rebate on the H1 SilverStars. I posted I thought these were headlight bulbs because that's what the box and Sylvania say. Are you saying they can also be used as fog light bulbs? I know they will physically fit and they're 55 watt, but I thought the beam pattern was like a headlight bulb and not like an auxiliary bulb? Am I wrong or just confused?

 

The beam pattern is exactly the same. As I said earlier in this thread, I installed 1 Silverstar and the other stock to compare. I couldn't even tell a difference between the two up close and at a distance. The only bulb really worth swapping out IMO is the parking bulb and the turn signal bulb. I'm satisfied with the stock headlight bulb in terms of whiteness. The stock parking bulb is what makes our lights have a yellow tint look. Swap out the turn signal with a Silver 7440 bulb that flashes orange and your good to go.

and do the city lights stay on all the time? and also Has anyone wired a way to make the Fogs turn on In the Daytime like DRL's?

 

how do i change the city lights? what bulb do i use?

 

so for us canadians that requires drl, does that mean the lower powered fog light is perfect for use as drl ?
and isnt a fog light supposed to be more 'poweful' so that it can peer through the dense fog ?

 

OK I gave up trying to replace the city lights through the hood...

I finally, finally managed to get the intake out, then saw what LOOKED like it was a cap for the fog light which I can take off, but where in the world do I get access to the city light??

Should I just say screw it and go through the wheel well? If so, whats involved in that?

 

vled inverted cone ultra white. kp technology sells the relay to turn on the fogs without the headlights.

 

its not any easier through the wheel well unless you take the wheel off completely and remove the liner. the cap unscrews and you have to follow the wires to get to the citylight. it pulls out, but it takes a little bit of effort.

edit: some guys just turn the wheel and peel back the liner, but the only advantage of going through the wheelwell is if you actually take the wheel off. taking the wheel off allows you to stick your head in there and see what you're doing.
