so far it has worked out fine for me. I see lots of tar/hits in that area, but, they have come right off so far. I did get my door handle cups done, but, they did not charge extra for it, but, they did say that they would not warranty that portion because of ease of pulling it off. Again, so far no problem anywhere.

ALL clearbra material is NOT created equal, different, material, different thicknesses, but, as stated B4, installation is what really matters in the long run and the warranty.

Question for those that have had the clear bra for a few years

1) Can you drive the car through a carwash with brushes?

2) In hot weather (Like the US southwest) does the bra hold up to
direct hot sunlight?? Will it deteriorate after a few years??

Thanks for any responses

Hi All,

I am picking up my G37 in two weeks and am also trading in an 07 IS250 that had clear bra installed. I plan on definately putting clearbra on my G37. I purchased my IS250 in December of 07 and it has over 35,000 miles on it (I did a LOT of cross country/interstate driving). I had it installed by Aerotect (www.aerotect.net) out of La Verne, CA, and they do an EXCELLENT job using 3M brand film (they do hundreds of jobs for Club Lexus). I had the whole front bumper, 18" of the hood, side mirrors, and fenders done. They also threw in fog light covers and door handle well covers. Here are my observations:

1) Clearbra will not protect against every little scratch or rock chip. There are small seams between the edge of the hood panel and where the clearbra ends (a few millimeters) that I have a few chips there; nothing major (less than a few millimeters)

2) During my 35,000 miles of interstate driving through rough parts in Missouri and Texas, I could hear debris/rocks/dirt hitting the front of my hood. However, clearbra did its job and there are no marks or scratches. I once hit a huge (about dime size) rock which fell off a damn dump truck hauling some fill dirt and the only mark was a slight dull spot on my clearbra on the hood which rubbed away pretty easily using some spray detailer.

3) The paint fades evenly; I left my car out in uncovered parking in the hot Missouri, Texas, and Arizona sun many times. The film does not yellow, peel or crack. The portion of the paint under the clearbar fades evenly with the uncovered portions, so if you were to take it off there would be no color difference.

4) Ive taken it through touchless and brush car washes as well as those cloth washes that some dealers use. No issues, no peeling.

5) I've used claybar to remove debris from the clearbra and put a coat of Klasse All in One followed by P21S and the clearbra shines just as well the uncovered portion.

6) The previous post said it right - installation is critical. The pros will make sure the clearbra is applied evenly, smoothly, and stretched properly with no overlap, air bubbles or wrinkles. I paid $500 for mine, which is pretty reasonable.

I've been a longtime Lexus driver but am moving over to the G37. Hope to post some pics soon!

PS: I do NOT work for Aerotect. They just do a very good job.

yikes ... if you plan to go through the car wash with brushes, don't bother getting a clear bra!

BTW ... it will stay on though.

Clear Bra on White

I had a clear Bra on a white 350Z and yes it did protect the front but after a couple of years you could see the difference. Might not be as noticable on a darker car.

Had the front bumper, Head lights, hood and mirrors done. Easy to take off just need to use some adhesive remover after you pull it off.

I doubt I will do it again on my G37.

I have found paint discoloration and scratches worse than road debris damage, every time I've used a Bra. NJ is a bitch with salt air and salted roads come winter.
Thanks for the fashion advice and the tip about discoloration, scratches, and salt. I would have only considered it if the G wasn't a DD and only used it for the roadtrips; however, it can be a pain or inconvenient to clean before putting on the bra.

Thanks. Clearbra certainly has advantages in terms of where it can be put on. Glad to hear that a good quality clearbra can take the road debris down there.

It sounds like some clearbras seem to allow color fading evenly for both covered and uncovered parts. Properly installed good quality clearbras do seem relatively unnoticeable. I'll have to look around for good installers in my area.

If you are in Southern CA, contact EDL (Bhane) at 310.613.3978

Has anyone had a clearbra past the 5 year warranty period? How long does it last?

He and his brother Ed are essentially the owners of EDL (Envisage Design Labs). They are a reputable clear bra installer who have been doing it for a LONG time. They also do a lot of exotic car installations.

The last I heard, they are working on moving to two new locations so they are doing mobile installs for now.

My stealership charges $900... i kno some shops that have computer cut outs for the G37 already and do clear bra as their main thing... price ranges from $400-$550

I havent done it on mine yet tho... i dunno if i will like that line, and just how easy it will resist rocks and bugs

I talked them down to $999 and made them agree to do interior AND exterior door handles as well as the trunk lid and usual headlight/fenders/hood....

^^sw33t ...hey, i heard that puttin clearbra on headlights diminishes the life of the HID bulb... somthin about not letting heat out properly cuz the clearbra seals more heat in... thus it was recomended not to include the headlight.

anyone else hearing this too?

Put 800 miles on the G37 over the last few weeks and picked up a couple of rock chips already. I'll definitely be doing clear bra.
Diva, I'm also in Houston, would appreciate it if you could pass on contact info for guy you mentioned.
Thanks.
