my Ventureshield clear bra covers 50" of the hood, maximum width. Both fenders and headlights, fully covered, mirror backs splash guards, and in front of the rear wheel opening, and inset behind the door handles. About $1500, but, well worth it so far. Had a lady back into me, lots of paint tranfer, all came right off. I use Plexus polish/protectant/cleaner, works great.

I have found paint discoloration and scratches worse than road debris damage, every time I've used a Bra. NJ is a bitch with salt air and salted roads come winter. Never Again...But I too am considering the Clear Bra for my 05 Wrangler to protect from uncut Brush on the trails. One of my service advisors is the Jersey rep for clear Bra, so I'm gonna try to get a deal out of him!

Run away from that stealer. That is a ridiculous charge for undercoating of any sort especially when it is unnecessary in your area. Undercoating normally costs $100-300

Having a clear bra installed elsewhere is almost always cheaper. Most stealers subcontract to another shop so they are a middleman marking the costs up further. You may as well deal with the source, save money and ensure the job is right.

What does it cover? I was quoted $800 for the hood, lights, bumper, mirrors, and door edges. I was also going to get the door handles done as one G37 owner complained they scratch easily.

Has anyone checked out paint protection kits from LLumar? From what I have read they are a litter thinner than the 3M kits (4mil), but they come with a lifetime warranty as opposed to 3M's 5 year warranty. Not sure about the cost yet. http://www.llumar.com/IntEng/PaintProtectionFilm.htm

Also found the cost of the precut kits from X-Pel. They use 3M's film. https://www.xpel.com/products/paint_...&submodel=5491

I've read lots of good info on pricing for the clear bra and dealer vs. after market. But what I really need to know:

1. Does wax buildup or dirt get trapped at the edges?
2. Does it eventually become discolored or spotty because of sun/heat?
3. Can I still use Zaino or other products on the car & bra?
4. Are the areas under the clear bra less reflective than the rest of the car?
5. Would you get it again on your next new car?

Thanks!

Chocoholic:

1) Yes wax will build up around the film edges. However, you simply wipe the excess wax off, like you would around any other cracks & crevices on the car.
2) Not mine and I'm in hot azz Houston. No spots or discoloration so far. Just little spots of bug guts...that wipe off soooo easily. hehe
3) Yes, you can use any wax and sealants that you would use on your paint. I was told to wax it just like I wax the rest of my car....and I do.
4) They are equally as shiny in my opinion.
5) Absolutely! It is a must on every car now. I hate rock chips and fricken bugs. My husband and I have had a clear bra on 5 vehicles. The G37 will be the 6th.

Let me say that all workmanship is not the same. We had one clear bra done by one place and it SUCKED!! He had to re-do it. (it was very lumpy and you could totally see it) Later, when I purchased my 04 coupe, I met the guy who does the clear bras for SW Infiniti in Houston and he does outstanding work. The work was like night & day. Needless to say, he has me as a lifetime customer. ;-) So definitely ask to see their work. Also, keep in mind it shows up more depending on the color. We've had it on red, black, white & diamond graphite. (not all Infiniti's of course hehe) The gray is least noticeable IMO.

1) Depends on the wax. I use Zaino products with no problem.

2) So far not yet for me ... I park in the sun at work. I also have a dark colored car so if there is fading / discoloring ... it may not be as noticeable as on a light colored car.

3) It is recommended to Zaino right over it. I've been doing so every week with no problems.

4) I haven't noticed any.

5) I would not hesitate!

Thanks for the comments Diva and Terrycs.

I'm definitely leaning towards getting it. I pick up my Platinum Graphite 37 tomorrow or Friday!

This is the key. There are a couple of Paint Protection Films out there, and they prolly do all about the same thing. Anyone can buy the stuff, it's about who installs it. That's what you're really paying for.

+1 on that ... it's all about the workmanship. To who ever is thinking about a clear bra ... make sure you get referrals! I've seen some really funky looking installs where the seams don't even line up ... and this was at a dealership.

I would also suggest getting the door handle cups done. They're gonna charge you for it, but if not protected, those surface scratches from fingernails are going to add up. Even more so on the darker colors.

Is it recommended to put clearbra on the splashguards or area thereof? I would think you get a lot of debris there, but not sure if it would be too much for clearbra to handle.
