Dealership says I need to replace the AV unit to fix my front speakers
However they are trying to charge me $1200 for this replacement. I brought my car there for a totally different reason and when there I asked them if they can look at my front two speakers as they weren’t working. Anyways they said I need to replace the av unit. 28051-EH00B. I searched that item part up online and it is only around $30. If that’s the right part where can I find it out in my car and replace it?? There’s no way I’ll be paying $1200.
The part number referenced is for the XM Satellite Radio tuner. This has nothing to do with your front speakers. Save yourself $30. and forget the $1200. ripoff.
This post has instructions on how to run the "Speaker Test." IMPORTANT: when using the self-diagnostic, DO NOT SELECT RESET/ INITIALIZE FACTORY SETTINGS! When you are done, just keep pressing the BACK button to EXIT or shut the car OFF.
If the front two speakers are "dead" this will confirm it. From there the issue could point to the headunit or the amp.
