Those who know: Tesla screen? Yes or No?

I’m seriously considering a Tesla screen for my 2012 G37 Sport Convertible. I want to know, from people who have knowledge, if it works well or not.
Thx.

Got mine on the 4th

I'm kinda curious to see the reviews myself. I know they're pretty mixed. I actually pulled the trigger on this unit on the 4th of July sale. Should be going in next week with the Alpine R Series 3 way components, Infinity Reference 6X9, JL 13Tw5, and still looking for something to throw in for the center channel. I'll keep you posted.

Have you looked at anything else? Nothing seems to integrate as well as this does, but I hadn't really researched in detail tbh.

Let me know what kind of speakers u plan to run

I just replaced the tweeters with Pioneer TS-A300TW. That made a big difference. I also added a sub in the vert. Pioneer TS-A3000LS4. It sounds fantastic! The sub is perfect! Tap directly from the 6x9 speakers and the bass control basically becomes the sub control. System sounds great now. Still using the factory bose with nav. for the headunit.

You replaced only the Tweeters in the OEM Bose Studio on wheels? What impedance? Does the sound stage setting still work properly? I've always wanted to do this but was scared I'd screw up the factory DSP settings.

OWC (https://www.owc-upgrades.com/) builds a harness for the Sub if you want to tap off the low level inputs to the Bose Amp. I had done this DIY a few years back and it works well, but the OWC harness is much easier.

I Think I Ohm tested them at 3.5Ohms on the tweets and the clarity is night and day with the factory Bose system providing the power. The sub is really a major improvement too. Bose= No Highs. No lows. So fixed that and I'm very pleased with the sound now. Using a Kenwood Mono amp at 500W RMS. I'm very pleased with it. I can still put the top down without any worries too.
You don't need to remove the door panel to replace the tweets. Just remove the bolt at the door handle and behind the airbag tab. Then just spread it a bit to get a 10mm ratcheting wrench to remove the sail bolt. Really easy.

Those tweets are a bit louder than factory. The clarity is 90% better. I used to keep my highs maxed, but now just one step over 50%. As I said above, if you tap into the rear bose "Subs" Mine are 6x9's, the base adjustment is just like a sub output control as the Bose amp only rubs lows to those. I used this to get an RCA output and I was worried the sound would be crappy with a post-amp connection, but it is clear as it can possibly be. No unwanted noise at all.

NVX XFLOC2 2-Channel 80W Line Output Converter with Digital Noise Filter + Line Driver

The tweets are supposedly 6 Ohms...I remember Ohm testing them tho and it looked more like 4 Ohms. That sub is as big as what can fit. It only has 1/2 of space under the sub in the box. The height is 5.75 inches and I sunk the sub into the box 3/4 inch so it wouldn't hit the spare tire cover/trunk bottom that covers it. I did use lots of Dynomat under the trunk top cover, above the sub. That is a necessity! It would be perfect if I could have made that box 1/2 inch shorter, but It's fine anyway. The sub doesn't hit the cover because I sunk it 3/4 inch into the box, but it makes the cover make a flapping sound without good dynomat/deadener. The box is exactly 1.0 cubic feet. I have been checking my amp, and it's literally 117 outside. The amp is not getting hot at all! The holes are for mounting the amp and allows air in there. I have 5 little holes under the back of the amp for Ground, 12V, Turn on, and RCA's. The speaker connector is directly behind the amp. into the box.
I was going to add another amp and replace more speakers, but I'm really happy with the sound. These were what I was going to use (

KICKER CompRT 6.75"(165mm) Subwoofer, DVC, 2-ohm, RoHS Compliant

in place of the door 10-inch Bose, but it doesn't need to be changed.

Tesla screens are known to have intermittent lag, I did months of research to see if any of the different storage capacity units were any different but I think it’s just in the processing, if you don’t mind the lag, I’d still suggest an aftermarket sound processor to get decent sound out of them

@OMG G37 When you reference intermittent lag, are you referring to streaming audio over BT? If yes, this is likely tied to the audio codec and compression leveraged by the vendor. Not sure the iPod/USB connection would also experience the same lag correct?

more of user interface lag, after a few weeks the system response isn’t too great, apps lag, streaming lags, intermittent loss of ac or erratic ac behavior etc
