Ok, This may sound wacky but has anyone had their audio/navigation system load slowly. I have a 2012 g37XS and everything works perfectly. However, when I start the car. The Infinity start up process for the screen takes a long time. Until it loads the screen is black.
For example 5-7 minutes. So that means I am in the car driving down the road with no AC/Radio controls at all until that process happens. Could this be the screen or a specific Unit going bad? Bad Ground? Or Bad Connection?
I have a basically a stock Bose set up with a single amp and 10" sub.
Sounds like your Navi hard drive is probably dying, unfortunately. I have a Navi unit on my bench that I am working on and it does the same behavior you are describing when the hard drive is unplugged.
You can get a new unit off eBay, OR if you are mechanically / technically inclined you can take apart the unit, clone the drive and reassemble.
Thank you, I am technical but not technical enough to format and set up my own Navi HHD. Do you happen to have one you can suggest? When I go to Ebay I see all sorts of things that "might" work.
Ive also see the Android/Apple full screen set up. Would you stay with the OEM system or buy one of the Android/Apple systems? I've seen great systems and then also horror stories. :-)
Thank you

So any 2010+ G37 navi unit would work. I believe the part number is 25915-1ja2b. I would personally not suggest the tesla screen style units, they come with their own issues. There are other units popping up now that work alongside the OEM system, those are fine but you will still need a working OEM AV unit.
If you end up replacing the navi unit let know if you would be willing to part with the old one, one of the things I was working on is getting a working drive image that people can use to fix this issue. As these cars get older more of these HDDs will start to fail, basically bricking the entire center unit and AC controls. I have an image for 07-09 cars but not 2010+.
