To save time and aggravation there is a plug-and-play harness conversion kit available from member @OWC which will make this process A LOT easier. See this thread for details. Just a option to consider.
But, yes it can be done. I did it ≈10 years ago or so ('08 Bose non-NAV to '14 NAV). You take stock of what wiring your car has, identify each circuit, and compare that to the "newer" donor system wiring. Some terminals will have to be moved, most will be left unused as the NAV system incorporates the side modules like the CCU, and iPod (AUX), and some will have to be added- CAM for a few. I just made a simple chart with 2 columns going line-by-line and went step-by-step.
Always follow the pin number, DO NOT ALWAYS RELY on the wire "color." There have been discrepancies.
Seems like you sourced most of the components, but did you get the gray GVIF cable that goes from the display to the headunit? As well as the USB cable that goes from the headunit to the USB port (including the port)? These are proprietary and can not be readily sourced elsewhere- at least they weren't when I did this. At a minimum you will need the GVIF cable else the headunit and display will not work correctly.
This thread was extremely helpful when I did the swap though some of the steps were not needed in my case.
If you decide to do this solo, be patient, and learn how to de-pin these connectors firsthand. Some of the connectors are not as "forgiving" as others when it comes time to releasing the terminals from the housing.
Any other specific questions feel free to ask away...
ok, sounds more doable the way youve described it there. lol
i believe i have the cable as part of the parts that i bought, ill find out for sure today when they come in.
if not, any idea where i can source that specific cable?(the gvif cable)
and i would happily purchase the owc cables, they look gorgeous and would make my life easy...but i would then have more in the stereo of this car than i paid for it(no joke) and i just cant justify spending 100's of $$ for wire.
Ive done custom wiring on systems for years, and id be pretty upset with myself even if i could afford the price of those things. lol
i do wish i could find the connector ends though so i could build my own plug and play instead of repinning or soldering inside the vehicle. but i keep getting mixed responses from sites as to which ones they even are.
thanks for the help already, and ill try posting pictures of all this when it comes in and i start actually working on it =)
Ok I was under the impression that you had a "junkyard donor" for the parts you sourced. Under this scenario, is there a local pull-a-part yard near you that would have some wrecked G's? If so, you can go there and pull connectors (pigtails) and some extra wiring to have on hand. You will need some different connectors for the NAV unit, I do not recall which ones specifically. Again, comparing the FSM's will point out which is which.
The GVIF and USB cables will be junkyard sourced. At one time I thought I saw that the GVIF cable was available new from Nissan but I haven't came across any p/n's since. And, creating your own using Hirose-type parts from places like DigiKey or Mouser will more painful than its worth, IMO. (Patience is NOT one of my strong point. At all).
Good luck!

so the unit i have coming to me has nearly every cable(that ive seen used) connected to the back of it, and is pigtailed off.
so i have the plugs for the box, screen, ac panel...all of it i believe. the only thing i know for sure that im missing is the gps(which i found and bought one that plugs into a factory 13) and the backup camera plug...but thats 4 wires...i figured i COULD cut it down and buy a 4 wire shielded cable and run that, right? cheap on amazon.
ill post exactly what pigtails i have when i get it in.
i have a junk yard nearby but i live in the midwest, these are RARE cars here. id be shocked to find any. Im stuck more to ebay and whatever i can source from part sites new/used.
sounds like a good plan. and ok, because i cant find the gvif for these cars, or infiniti specific to save my life. lol
and i might buy one of the little pop in usb replacements for the existing rca, but if i do ill probably do it another time. ill never really use anything except bluetooth on this. and its a lot less work to not run the wire honestly. lol
my check off list is:
working stereo/screen
working ac controls
add navigation/bluetooth
add backup camera.
If memory serves all you need that your car doesn't have is the 40-pin connector. Most of the connectors from the non-NAV - once you remove the wires you will NEED- will not be used and just tucked away. But, yes, the listing shown appears to have all of the necessary connectors.
Also, do you use/ plan on using the XM SAT radio? You will need the pink FAKRA connector and splice that in. If not, no issue.
Trust me, while this seems daunting, the wiring is relatively easy. Hardest part is "de-pinning" the connectors as some of them get "cranky" and next to impossible to pick the release tabs. This post shows how I unlock some of these connectors.

ok, great info. thanks again for all the help.
ill have pictures after i get home today of what i do have.
and no, i definitely wont be using xm. no need for any of that =)
Good luck. Keep us updated. Like I said, the connectors are the most aggravating part of the whole bloody swap.
Another "precautionary" word of advice, once you get into the guts of everything, there are two connectors plugged into a white, plastic, rectangular box (aka the UMAC Amp) which is mounted on the (radio) headunit. These two connectors are wrapped/ marked with YELLOW electrical tape. MAKE SURE THESE TWO CONNECTORS GET PLUGGED BACK INTO THE AMP and not accidentally mixed up with the headunit connectors. Some are identical. Mixing these up will cause all sorts of issues and can brick the car. Many people have made this "goof." So, keep that in the back of your head as you are buttoning things up.
ok, i had seen something about that.
i have a new one of those units coming with the stereo it looks like(its mounted on top of it?). but i read that you CANNOT change that, and its paired, i assume, with the bcm?
so i should swap mine over to the new radio and use it, right?
The UMAC is not "paired" or "programmed" to the BCM.
My donor also came with the amp. I swapped it out for my original and am keeping it in storage as a spare if/ when mine fails. These units have a small but common history of failing - specifically with the fuel level/ sending function.
ok, i will for sure post pics before making any 'cuts'. lol
i must have misunderstood something with what i read on another post.
i may go ahead and swap to the new one then... mine is rather old(09) and been run a lot(high mileage)
keep mine as a spare to swap into a broken one or whatnot.
ok, i got the stereo components in yesterday. here are the pics of the cables.
other than the camera line, the gps line, and the gvif, i think the rest is plugged in there as pigtails.
i have another set of cables coming, which i believe has an intact gvif(hopefully).
otherwise...i just have a lot of solder work ahead, correct?
