Is Q50 and G37 BOSE amp direct swap and other intriguing questions

Hello everyone. I, as many of you, feel underwhelmed with the BOSE system in our G37. I own a g37 sedan with BOSE and navigation. I recently ordered a Grom VL2 (still in the mail) to inject some life into the overall system, but I also want to upgrade the sound system. In all scenarios, I would be doing the work myself. I would greatly appreciate all feedback please. I listed my options in the order of my priority.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Improve the clarity and get some better bass (doesn’t have to be crazy).

  1. I am also looking for a budget build. Maximum $500.

  1. Run a single 10” sub for space savings

OPTIONS:

  1. This is the most intriguing. I am curious to know if the Q50 BOSE amp is a direct swap to my G37. My impression is that the BOSE in the Q50 has somewhat improved over the G37 one. This option of course would be the least expensive and intrusive. If I can get a 10%-25% improvement I would be very satisfied.

  1. Bypass the original BOSE system and upgrade to a 5ch amp (I’m eyeing the Pioneer GM-D9705). Most likely I would retain the stock speakers.

  1. Same as option 2, but also look into a shallow mount free-air (infinite baffle) 10” subwoofer to replace the BOSE sub on the rear deck. Not sure if this will be enough for me, so I might consider a small box for a 10” sub...possibly one that fits on side of trunk.

  1. If budget permits, eventually upgrade the front speakers to a decent set of components and some sort of matching rear.

Let me preface this by saying that I don't know squat about amps, so my reply is limited to what I do understand: wiring.

I just did a cursory review of the FSM's for the G Sedan (2013/V36) and the Q50 (2015/V37). From a wiring perspective, the two amps are NOT plug-and-play compatible. The connectors would have to re-wired and you will have to source one connector that the G amp does not have.

To say whether the Q amp will deliver a better sound compared to the G- I do not know. Hopefully others more knowledgeable in this field can reply.

Perhaps some knowledgeable person at

Earlier this year my wife bought a 2020 Cadillac XT6 which has the current flavor of Bose audio sound system installed. As that system stands, the audio quality, soundstage and placement is better than the system in my G ever was. The Amps sound different in that the frequency response is more even with increasing volume; the sound stage doesn't collapse with volume and there is actually a semblance of bass. However, I suspect this has more to do with the size and placement of the Bose drivers and the size of the interior cabin that the actual amplifier electronics. Bose has never claimed industry leadership for its amplification and I doubt it ever will; so I suspect that the technology used in the Infiniti Q is likely similar (if not identical) to that used in the G with some repackaging tweaks. Given that the amps are not plug-and-play compatible, if it were me, and I had gone through the trouble of uncovering the Bose amp, Id yank it an custom wire an aftermarket unit in its place. Be advised however that many who do this continue on that road eventually replacing every driver in the car. Pretty sure your not going to get from here to there on $500
