New here. Just got an 09 sedan. I want to add a new sound system with dsp. I’ve read through the sticky thread but needed some clarification. Does the signal from the factory head unit have clean signals to go straight to the dsp or does some kind of filter need to be installed to clean the signal?

Welcome. Not sure what you're going for but there are a lot folks in here who have upgraded their audio systems in various ways so keep reading those threads. Does your new '09 have a Bose system? Does it have NAV? This info will help in discussing your upgrade options.
Technically, even our bone stock Infiniti systems have "dsp". They all do bass, treble, pan, fade, automatic speed volume, and some do a "soundstage" thing to sort of surround the driver. The stock and Bose systems are not terrible (IMO) but many folks choose to add subs, change out speakers, amps, etc...
Let us know what you're shooting for and you'll get some good answers.

If it's a Bose, you will pick up the signal prior to the amplifier.
On almost all Nissans with Bose, the signal coming from the HU to the amplifier is clean and not modified yet.
The "Bose" amplifiers are responsible for the custom sound equalization/DSP for the car. The HU merely puts out a clean signal with basic modifiers like volume, balance, bass, treble.
It's my favorite thing about Nissans, you can keep the stock HU because they are pretty good and the DSP/EQ occurs in the external amps.
