Does this unit have to be connected to the internet to work? Can it be just a stand alone unit and still function?

 

If you are asking about VLine VL2, there are new options available to operate it:
1. CarPlay or Android Auto with your smaptphone. The smartphone (iPhone or Android) will be connected via USB to VLine. There is no need to provide the internet to VLine to operate CarPlay or Android Auto, as all information will be taken from the smartphone and displayed on the car stereo screen.

2. The other option is using VLine standalone and run the apps directly on VLine. You can use Google Maps, Waze, any music apps directly on VLine, without any phone connected to it. In such case VLine will need internet. You can provide it to VLine either by using separate modem and SIM card with the internet plan, or you can share the internet from your mobile phone (called WiFi hotspot).
