Aux music help

Jus got 2013 sedan no nav system.. I’m trying to hook my phone up to aux but there’s not port .. was told there was this USB port I can use in center console but when I connect my iPhone it connects but music is muted . Any solution on how I can hook my iPhone up?

You get what you get... I have an 09 with the rca ports, but my brother and dad both have cars with the updated system. My dad took the XM signal in his car and spliced a 3.5mm jack to the wires to get an aux for his android phone.

You should be able to play audio through that USB plug but it's clunky. Start music playing on the phone before you plug it in. Phone may also need to be unmuted with the volume up (I can't remember). After plugging it in press the center console's "Aux" button or the steering wheel's "source" button until USB appears (display may say "iPod"). Then you may need to press play again on the phone to get it started. The steering wheel's fwd and back buttons will function but the song info on the display is usually wrong. As I say, it works but the interface is really showing its age.
