Question GT108 Ipod Adapter Repurpose

Whats up fellow G owners!

So Ive finally gotten my 08 G on the road and Ive been looking for a way to get rid of the GT108 (GT10B?) ipod adapter. I was thinking about maybe wiring it up to a usb and or usb hub? Ive been searching the forums for a bit now but I admit I may not be looking up the correct things. Any ideas on how to do this or on how to possibly utilize this port for something more useful? Wiring Schematics?

Thanks Peeps!

The port in question...

From what I understand, the port only charges via firewire (3V i believe) rendering charging a current phone useless. Dockstubz (I believe) had a connector that would change it to 5V, but I'm still not sure whether you can just rewire a USB port there.

That iPod port is good for nothing other than connecting a iPod- and even then it halfass works. In other words, good for nothing. I've attached the wiring pinouts as you requested:

2008 G37 Coupe FSM, Section AV (Audio/Visual)

There is no way you could wire a functioning USB media port. The 2008/9 AV units are not configured for USB. I can't think of anything useful.

This is one of the main reasons I swapped to the newer, 2010+ system that supports USB. I load up a 128GB microSD with a ton of mp3 and mp4 files and call it a day.

Hope some of this helps.

Man that’s a wacky pinout... I know if it were me I’d be stuck. My ‘09 has this port, good for absolutely nothing. Hooked up my old iPod 4 and it didn’t work anyways. I got a Bluetooth device that connects to the RCA ports in my centre console, works ok. Got it off amazon.

@Conboss Thanks for the info, Im gonna dredge around and see if I can find any more info on that.

@ILM-NC G37S Much obliged on the wiring diagram! I see what you mean by having a good for nothing port. Tbh, I feel more inclined now on finding a use for it....

@saywat? I just wanted to repurpose the port into something cool and functional since Im currently running around with a droid (OP7).

I guess if I figure something out, Ill let you guys know what the end result is. Thanks again for the help!

Hola compañero yo tengo un infiniti fx35 del 2009. Como encontrasteis ese dispositivo bluetooth para el coche? Sabrías decirme la marca porfa?
