Issues with usb port playing music
I had a 2011 g37xs with the tech package, but it was totaled. Whenever I plugged in my phone to play music it work right away. Now I own a 2011 G37xs without the tech package and the usb port does not work for playing music. Does anyone know how to fix this.
And yes I have read the other posts but nothing has worked for me thus far.

'13 G here with an iPhone / iPad and no nav so no streaming bluetooth. What we have to do is start the device playing music before we plug it into the usb port. That seems to allow the car's system to play the audio and see the song and artist names - although the displayed info isn't very reliable. If we plug it in before launching the music app the car just gets stuck on trying to read the files...

I ended up figuring it out, I decided to buy one song from itunes and it magically started working today. All i have to do is play the itunes song and then I can switch to spotify and play my songs from there. Weird quirk but at least its working now

2011 non-Nav is limited to 1,000 files on a USB device. It's further limited in that the root directory is limited to 256 files, so my thumb drive has 4 folders, each with 255 songs. Folders are files, so they count toward both the root limit and total file count.
I don't know for a fact if this applies to 2013, but reading your owner's manual will tell you.
