USB charging incredibly slow

I am not referring to the circular car sockets. I know that charges quite fine. I'm talking about the USB port that is used to play music. But it is what it is I suppose. I guess I'll just need to use bluetooth.

Got one of these mounted on the left hand side of the steering wheel. Works great to charge the phone, gps, etc.

I left work yesterday at 5:05 with a 38% charge on my iPhone 6s. I used the center console USB and played music directly through that connection--no Bluetooth, no phone calls, no texting for the commute home.
I pulled into the garage @5:45 and had 59% charge. Seems normal
