Adding factory GPS to '13 Journey?
Adding factory GPS to '13 Journey?
Question 1:
I have a 2013 Infiniti G37 Journey sedan with no GPS. I want to add the factory GPS into it. I have absolutely zero experience in modding the tech in cars. I have looked on eBay, and I found the stock g37 GPS button system:
07 08 09 Infiniti G35 G37 Radio GPS Navigation Control Panel 28395 JK65B | eBay
I figured I can buy that along with the touch screen that goes with it in order to make this work. What else would I need? How would I do this? Any tips?
Further research I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-13-Infini...9WWREF&vxp=mtr
Would my whole OEM system need to be replaced to this in order to add GPS?
Also, would this screen be mandatory:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-13-Infini...ZV6lr5&vxp=mtr
Question 2:
Do you think I should instead install this:
Amazon.com : BOSS AUDIO BV9386NV Double-DIN 6.2 inch Touchscreen DVD Player Receiver GPS Navigation, Bluetooth, Wireless Remote : Car Electronics
Also, if I do, would I still have the default Infiniti menu system and logo boot screen?
Thanks!

Question 3:
do you have a smartphone?
that will be a hell of a lot cheaper, no need to tear car apart, and will provide more accurate Navigation.
you can pretty much forget Question 2, considering you have zero modding experience - it would be a total custom job and cost $$$$$

You can do the factory swap, the service manual for both cars (the donor) and your vehicle will be your starting point.
Most of the plugs are very similar and ask the seller of the new navi to give you the plugs for the back of the unit if possible.
The oem feel is a lot nicer than a phone setup, but its not an amazing oem nav.
The swap/install takes around 20-30 labour hours so you should plan accordingly as your car will be in pieces during the process.
I have done the swap in the past to upgrade older navi units to the newer navi unit style but the process is the same.
