Battery drain issues

Hi everyone,

Sorry to have to make this my first post, but I'm not sure what's going on with my car. I bought a 2012 G37x sedan about a month ago. The first week that I had it, I parked it at the train station on my commute to work. When I got back in the afternoon, the car wouldn't start. I had it towed back to the dealer (non-Infiniti) and they said the battery was bad and replaced it.

Now, just yesterday, I had the same thing happen again. The car started fine in the morning. I left my house and drove to the station and parked. When I got back later that night the battery was dead again. Luckily, it took a jump and was fine afterwards. It also started up with no issues again this morning as well.

So I'm trying to figure out what could be going on. I did some searching and I found the Technical Service Bulletin #ITB10-010b, but I'm not sure if this applies to my car since it's for 08-09 coupes. I also found something about ITB01-010A but I'm having a hard time finding a PDF of that bulletin.

If it helps, both times the car didn't make it's usual chirp when locking the doors. The first time I used the fob, the second time it hit the button on the door handle. Also, my dash clock has been flickering off and on, but I'm not sure if that's related.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Apologies again if this is a newbie post that has been beat to death already, but it's a little confusing.

Thanks!

A few years ago, I found an issue with mine, regarding standby mode with radio remotes.

If I parked my car near an elevator or stairway, parking garage in my case.
The freaking car would go in standby mode waiting to be opened by a remote.
This was caused by everyone walking by my car to the elevator, I bet most people have radio remotes for their cars too.
My Infiniti was sensing radio frequencies, and being in standby mode all day.
I checked my car with an amp meter in series, let the car go to sleep, it was pulling 0.01 amps.
When I put the key fob in my pocket the car woke up as i neared it, and pulled 3 amps going into standby mode.

Imagine pulling 3 amps all day!!

I solved this by parking elsewhere.

That's interesting. I hadn't considered standby mode as a possible cause. Although I don't know if that would apply to my case, as the lot I park in is smaller and not near a high foot traffic area. I pretty much park in the same spot every weekday. If it happens again though, I'll try moving to another area.

It has been starting up fine again the last two days, so I'm not sure what to think. I think I'm going to upgrade to a better quality battery in the near future, just in case.
