HOW TO: Charge & Control all iPhones/iPods with your Infiniti 30-pin connector

I've owned my G37S for about 2 weeks now and ever since I bought it I've been trying to get my iPhone 6 to both charge & interface with the dated 30-pin Infiniti connector found on the older G37's. THE SOLUTION - you have to use adapters to change the charge pin over so it supports the new Apple devices.

Adapters you need to make this work:

Infiniti 30-Pin interface cable

12V USB Charger

Micro USB cable

CableJive Charge Converter

Scosche home dock charging adapter

Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter

Lightning extension cable (optional)

You MUST buy both charging adapters to be able to make this work. using just one doesn't work (yes, I've tried it). The micro USB plugs into the side of the CableJive adapter. Make sure they are constructed in the order you see in the video (scosche MUST be on top of the cablejive). It's also essential that you buy a REAL 30-pin ADAPTER FROM APPLE. 3rd party adapters will not work. I recommend buying an extension cable as well. The adapters all stacked on top of eachother are a bit of an eyesore.

Hey there, sorry to bump an older thread, but this is EXACTLY what I've been needing for my 2009 G37s! Can you confirm that this solution is still working for you? I'm about to order all of the items you suggested and I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

If anyone else has tried this, please let me know if it worked for you too?

Thanks!

Yes! I have still been using this solution and it has been working since I first posted this thread, It's exactly what you need for a setup that will both charge and control your phone

Hi, I just got a 2009 G37x coupe, and I wanted to control my 6 Plus. If I could live without the charging stuff, can I use JUST the official lightning to 30 pin adapter and have it work? And also, if I buy a scoche passport charge adapter, will it achieve the same thing? If I can use the least amount of components to make this work, I will.

If you use just the 30 pin adapter it will work (no charge). The scosche will only work when paired with the cable jive dock adapter. Using just the scosche and the 30 pin will not charge your phone

The Micro USB provides the charging capability for your phone. Since the Infiniti connector uses a different charging pin designed for older style iPods, it's impossible to pull power from the factory plug. You have to use the micro USB hooked from a usb charger to the cable jive to supply power to your phone.

Wow there is no way to charge without so many different components just to charge? Or a way to clean up the method?

Unfortunately not. I actually abandoned the 30 pin adapter and went for the bluetooth setup a few months later. This device is awesome, it allows you to use all the menu functions in the car (such as selecting playlists, artists, etc) as if your iPhone was plugged in. You still MUST use all the adapters in the thread before to make it work, but it will automatically connect to your phone and start playing music within the 30 seconds you start your car, every time!
