aftermarket backup camera with pics

I've been contemplating on adding a backup camera ever since I tinted my rear windows limo black (two years ago, lol). The OEM route seemed too costly, so, I purchased an aftermarket "sony" camera on Amazon for $20 shipped. It replaces one of the two license plate lights and fits perfectly and tightly. Install was straight forward. I'd say 1-3/10 depending on your research, knowledge on electronic installs and removing interior car panels. Google helped as usual. For anyone interested the reverse light wire I tapped into, at least on my 2008 coupe, is black with a white stripe.

Can you retrofit a camera in the front? Yes. Will it save your bumper? I can't say for sure.

Did you connect this camera to the video input inside the console or is there a factory input on models that didn't not have reverse camera OEM?

Yes, I connected it to the yellow video RCA jack inside the center console. Based on what I've read around, if your car didn't come with a camera then you don't have the necessary hardware for a plug and play into oem inputs/plugs. Did that make sense?

Add RCA to A/V Display for Non-Nav?

Does anyone have instructions on how to add RCA to A/V display if not already built-in?

I was wondering the same thing. I am assuming you have a USB in yours. You can buy a RCA to USB converter relatively cheap. However, i don't know if the later interface will sync or not. I have a 2013 w/ NAV and i want to add a front camera for parking. I don't know if the interface will play video through a s video to USB converter. My hope is that:

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

So...how did you guys manage to even use your back up cam.. I just installed mine and as soon as you release the parking brake the video goes away. Or when you start to move your car .
