Phone compatibility

I'm a new member and just bought a 2011 G37x with Nav recently. My iphone 4 worked great, both music and phone. Long story short...my iphone 4 died a terrible death in the snow. So far I've tried a iphone 5s which would not connect bluetooth for music and an samsung galaxy s4 which would not connect bluetooth at all. Where I live in Alaska there is no infiniti dealership, so I contacted Nissan where all the warranty work is done and they had "no clue" why both wont work. Has anyone been able to get these phones to successfully connect/work or any newer phones that will.

If I recall correctly, you need to pair the phone with Bluetooth twice. Once for voice then another time for streaming audio. I believe I read about this on here, then looked it up in the manual to confirm the steps for each (you will use the heads up display). Both my iPhone 4S and 5S worked fine once this dual pairing/bonding was accomplished.
