Remote Start doesnt work

Hey Guys, This morning i tried turning on the car via remote start. I clicked on the lock button three times. I saw the parking lights turn on but the car doesnt turn on. Any clue to what can cause this problem. Any feedback is appreciated. thanks

I didn't know our cars came with remote engine start. Is this a dealer option?

Probably a dealer installed aftermarket item. I've heard about the "3-click" start coming from dealers before.

Found out that the module that was installed in the car to bypass the extra car key for the remote start lost its programming code.

Good thing is that the local place is fixing it for free

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I have a question. Will it for sure void the existing warranty if you install aftermarket alarm with remote start?

There aren't many things that are 100% sure, but I'm 99% sure that any aftermarket electrical parts not installed by your dealer will void the warranty. Most dealerships won't even work on cars with any electrical modifications, like an aftermarket alarm.

A dealership CANNOT void warranty simply because you installed an aftermarket part on your car. Yet can however void warranty if they can prove THAT part caused a problem.

Here in NJ the current dealer labor rate is $130.00/hour

Install aftermarket parts and come to the dealer with your vehicle still under warranty with a problem you are going to pay the trouble shooting labor rate.

I had a problem once with a purolator cabin filter on my previous 06 G35

Never used an aftermarket part since

Not worth the hassle in my opinion

I get a 10% discount at the dealer parts counter

Purchase the parts at the parts counter and bring them to the service department for installation if need be

You'll save the markup on parts that the service department charges if you went to service first.

When I needed wipers on my G35 I purchased them at the parts counter and service showed me where to release the clips to install just the blades at no charge.
I don't think you can replace just the rubber anymore but you have to purchase the whole blade which is easy to change.

We sure do. Or you can add a longer range remote to it for the same price.
